Beware of Big Rigs

Commercial truck drivers are the heartbeat of our economy. They drive long distances and work long hours. The average day of a driver is between 9-14 hours in a work day. The average drive hour can be up to 11 hours. Drivers are responsible for moving goods and commerce from warehouses to store destinations. They deliver your packages, and make residential moves when necessary. Even though there are other modes of transportation, trucks have to get the product to the final destination.

Truck driver do not get the respect that they deserve on the road. Non-commercial drivers tend to cut them off on the freeways of our country. When they are moving 80,000 pounds down our roadways, these vehicles are difficult to maneuver in tight spaces. Yet drivers crowd the space and create an unsafe environment for trucks. In the picture shown above, this truck was cut off by a speeding vehicle crossing into its path. It caused damage to the equipment, injuring the driver, and damaging product. Luckily there were no fatalities.

The unthinkable is loosing a life over a reckless decision. Truck drivers have families they want to make it home to. They do their best to keep you safe. You should do your best to keep them safe so they can return to their lives after a job. Your comments are welcomed.

Thank you,

Akbar
