Prosecuting our Leaders

Having a former head of state being prosecuted in a court of law is an embarrassment. I never thought in my lifetime I would see and experience this with my own eyes. This will set a precedent for future leaders of our nation to beware. No one is above the law.

The nation is deeply divided over this issue. I have friends who think this is politically motivated, and I have some that think our former president is getting what he deserves. I feel that if the law has found that you betrayed your oath of office then you deserve to be held accountable.

I believe that this cannot be a political prosecution, because our country will fall into a vicious cycle of tit-for-tat in prosecuting former leaders from our two political parties. This type of behavior is unacceptable in the United States. There are countries such as South Korea suffering from numerous political prosecutions of its former presidents. Catherine Kim, (2024) wrote an article about this subject at Politico, https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/04/17/south-korea-president-prosecutions-qa-00152630# . Let’s not follow this destructive narrative in our nation.
